As a member benefit, the American Academy of Pediatrics is offering HIPAA
compliance manuals to you at no cost. You can print out a copy of each manual
and download the templates so that you can modify them for your practice.

Electronic Transactions For Physician Offices
- This manual describes the steps for complying with the transactions and code
sets HIPAA regulations.
- Templates: This Microsoft WORD file
contains template forms. You can copy the file and modify the forms as needed
for your practice.
Privacy Compliance Manual: "A How To Guide for Your
Medical Practice." - This manual describes the steps for complying
with the privacy HIPAA regulation. It was written with the office-based physician
in mind.
Please Note: This manual does not
include the March 27, 2002 PROPOSED changes to the privacy rule. If these are
finalized, the Academy will provide an update to the manual. Sign up in the
subscription box to the right to receive notice when there are changes or updates
to the manual.

- Form to File
Extension for Electronic Transactions and Code Set Rules Now
Available - The Department of Health and Human Service has published
the Model Compliance Plan, the form to be used to file for an extension to
implement the Electronic Transactions and Code Sets rule. After
clicking on the above link to access the form, click on the HIPAA link on
the left side of the page. This will open up the page with the Standard
Model Compliance Form link (at the bottom of the page) and instructions
you will need. The
form must be filed by October 15, 2002 and would grant a one year extension.
